The Trio™ Departmental
Supercomputer is a cluster of  three 1U enterprise-class AMD64 4P servers connected together via a low latency 40Gb DDR InfiniBand™  (no switch is needed). Distributed Symmetric MultiProcessing™ (DSMP™) Technology unifies the three servers into a single shared-memory supercomputer under one Linux OS image. Each 1U server is populated with either four 2.8GHz Quad-core or four 2.6GHz Six-core AMD Opteron™ Processors and up to  384 GB of 800MHz DDR2 memory. The result is a shared-memory system, with either 48 or 72 AMD64 cores and 144 to 336 GB of Global Shared-Memory, all under one operating system image. DSMP is not an application (like MPI under Linux), but an extension of  Linux itself, providing a low latency, shared-memory system  at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions offered in this space.

Applications that previously ran only on proprietary platforms that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars can now be hosted at a fraction of the cost. With the availability of the Trio™, Biotech, Life Sciences, Oil & Gas, Digital Media and University Departments can afford the most advanced supercomputing capabilities today.
